A fantastic trip across the border to Estepona in Spain was made by 20 of East Algarve’s finest.
Great facilities at the Olympic stadium in Estepona and a big thanks to Jim and the rest of the guys from Spain for hosting us, arranging the games, venues, meals and drinks over the 2 days.
The game on day 1 was made difficult with very unpredictable weather including swirling winds. At half time it was 5 – 1 to a very strong and organised home team but a better second half from EAFC meant no further goals. Verner was our player of the match for this day, with Toby scoring our only goal.
Day 2 was a different story with no wind and bright sunshine. East Algarve went 3 – 1 up with 2 goals from Toby and the goal of the tournament for the visitors scored by Verner.
A late fightback from Estepona resulted in a more than respectable 3 – 3 draw. Toby received the player of the match award for our team for this game and overall player of the tournament, including top goalscorer.

We will be arranging the trip again for next year and Estepona will be coming to us in Tavira again in March along with another visiting team. Dates for your diaries, 17th, 18th and 19th March 2024
